New oil on 24 Carat Gold and Palladium Painting

Oil on 24 carat gold and palladium leaf – poplar panel.

Here are my final tweaks on this pre-study:

– Golden eggs lay secure in the kingfisher nest

– Russet, yellow, orange and green leaves are carried on an Autumnal breeze behind Alice

– And finally I have softened the background branches on the left background so they are barely emerging from the enveloping mist.

I am now ready to begin my large full size exhibition painting using this pre-study as inspiration. I love to create a prestudy which enables me to refine my ideas and methods before investing in a large gold leaf and palladium study. It is a wise thing to do! This also means I have a lovely smaller painting – but often different from the final and much larger exhibition piece. There will be a number of changes made to the composition of the exhibition piece. Watch this space!

More news! I am now on Instagram. I am working on building a gallery of works in progress as well as finished pieces. There will comment and hints and tips along the way. So do ‘follow’ me in Instagram if you would like to be alerted to new exhibition work and painting insights.
