“The power of a composition and good reference material cannot be underrated. I always say you can be the best painter in the world – but if your composition (and reference material) is lacking – nothing can lift that painting beyond a well ‘painted’ study. What we want to achieve are paintings that say so much more than that”.
The Susan Harrison-Tustain reference photograph e-album could be the answer you are looking for.
The security coded e-album of photographs is designed to help you chose your subjects from an array of reference photographs featuring florals, still life, street scenes, figurative, bird studies as well as miscellaneous subject matter. No matter what your preference, we are sure you will find inspiration here. Additional images will be added to the album from time to time to keep your inspiration flowing!
Susan has put together an e-album of awesome reference images for your use. This is a free, bonus, easily down-loadable gift with the purchase of any Susan Harrison-Tustain DVDs.
You may like to use parts of images to create your own composition. We feel this is the ideal gift for the artist who just wants to have their brushes flying without having to first search for the ideal subject matter.
These images are taken by Susan or Richard Harrison-Tustain. They are royalty-free as well as copyright free – and available only to those who purchase Susan’s DVDs from her website.
Please note it is advisable not to use other people’s reference images if you plan to enter a competition with the painting. Almost all competitions exclude the use of such images. Unless of course, you have changed the composition substantially.
“These images are for your pleasure and to help you move forward with your painting. Richard and I hope they bring you, your family and friends as well as patrons inspiration and joy from your finished paintings! Have fun! Susan”

Hi All,
If you can’t attend a workshop this (Susan’s DVDs) is the next best thing.
I can highly recommend Susan’s new DVD ( Painting Watercolor My Way). It is a recipe for success in your future works. It shows just how to achieve it. I have many DVD’s nothing beats this one in my view, by way of content excellent demonstration, from the yellow under painting that glows through under each wash, beautiful blends of hues, painting a white object that is full of color yet still read white, velvety look on the rose petals the undulation on the leaves you can almost feel, describing with color different planes on the subject to bring forward or push back, molding form by use of warm and cool hues , you can see how to work on the background or any area in sections without any demarcation lines this is invaluable.
The priming method, understanding how important the degree of wetness on the paper is, this is a very empowering key to this method, the best part that you can view or listen to the DVD over and over and discover many more layers of teaching that may have been missed . It is like having a one on one workshop with Susan .
