Susan’s 2017 Exhibitions

Exhibitions come in many guises.  I am very fortunate to have a large national and international following which allows me the freedom to create major exhibitions in beautiful and sometimes breath-taking venues. I love to reveal my new collections in a warm and welcoming atmosphere – a living atmosphere – in gorgeous settings and in rooms that complement the work beautifully.  Not just because the rooms are full of beauty and atmosphere, but mostly because they bring a sense of ‘Home’ and welcoming. The paintings are displayed as if they hang in a home – in real rooms, ‘living’ rooms where the work seems to bring a lovely character and feeling of presence to the space.

As some of you may already be aware, the Mowbray family (owners of ‘Zuru Toys’) very kindly offered me the opportunity to host the first of my 2017 Exhibitions at magnificent ‘Mahoenui’, Coatesville, Auckland, New Zealand.

Organizing an exhibition always takes a huge amount of planning, organization and in the case of my latest exhibitions – it was doubly so, as I created two major exhibitions a week apart from each other – and 250 kilometres apart. I was thrilled to host my second exhibition (held the following week) in my home town at beautiful ‘Design on James’, Te Puna, Tauranga, New Zealand.

Logistically it took a massive amount of planning and creating but I am thrilled to say both exhibitions were hugely successful in every sense of the word.

Both my Exhibitions featured a Formal Opening Function on the Friday evenings (13 Oct in Auckland and 20 Oct in Tauranga). In Auckland I was very honoured to have the 2010 New Zealander of the Year, Sir Ray Avery, open my Exhibition. During the Friday Openings and often during the weekends of both Exhibitions my muse and subject of several of my precious metal leaf paintings, Alice Sea, played her beautiful music. Alice is a highly talented multi instrumental musician and singer. She was dressed in the costume seen in some of the paintings and it was wonderful to hear her uplifting music as people enjoyed my art work.

No success is without great appreciation for the enormous amount of help, time, energy and love given so freely by my family and very dear friends. With your help we created two exhibitions that were everything I hoped they would be – and so much more! Thank you to you all for being part of this amazing journey.  I only wish I could have shared the magic with all those on my mailing list!  I hope the photographs I have shared here are able to capture at least some of sense of being part of this wonderful ‘Celebration of Gold and Colours’!
