Welcome to The Art of Susan Harrison-Tustain
Susan's Palette Update:

Currently my palette has many of the same pigments used in my book "Glorious Garden Flowers in Watercolor". This is an excellent basic palette which will give you almost any color you wish. Clean, clear color - no mud. I have now discovered a few more pigments that I adore using. Try these out - you'll see what I mean.

Art Spectrum Australian Red/Gold - a beautifully transparent and incredibly vibrant yellow/gold with a touch of red. This color is magical.

Art Spectrum Burnt Sienna - this burnt sienna is so rich it bursts off the paper. I haven't seen anything like it before. It's transparent and just glows. You'll love it!

Schmincke Translucent Orange - I cannot do without this color! I use it continuously. Obviously transparent, it is ideal for warming a painting up. But I find it especially good when mixed with Phthalo Blue, and Phthalo Green to give a lovely rich, warm transparent Black/brown. I often use this mix of colors in my backgrounds.

Schmincke Phthalo Blue - I am using less French Ultramarine Blue now and am replacing it with Schmincke Phthalo Blue. I know the hue is quite different but the properties of Phthalo Blue suits my needs better. French Ultramarine Blue tends to sediment a little. Not a good look on skin and in skies.

Maimeri Dragons Blood has changed. I mix the equivalent now with Phthalo Blue, Alizarin Crimson and Art Spectrum Burnt Sienna.
