I'm glad you have them. I love mine to! They are the best watercolor DVD's I have. I thought once that I would never have the chance to go to one of her workshops. Then low and behold, she schedualed one in Bend OR, so close to many of my family and friends. I used to live by there. So I jumped at the chance. I know she does not plan to come to the USA for quite a long time. But you never know what will come up down the road in the next few years in another country or maybe yours. You just never know. You may someday find a way to attend one. Never say never. Never say, no way. Because out of No way , when you BELIEVE can come a way.

Hello Everyone Thank you so much for your lovely comments about my workshops and DVDs. It really is a pleasure to share everything I know with such passionate artists. I am so fortunate to have such wonderful artists to teach. Artists of all skill-levels - all working together - all thirsting for knowledge on how to create beautiful work. As mentioned above - my teaching philosophy is focused on bringing a new understanding of painting in watercolor. I also focus on teaching you all to see the colors that are there in front of us. At the beginning of a workshop or viewing my DVDs - it is difficult for artists to appreciate these subilties and importance of these things. But by the end of the workshops and DVDs - I feel the excitment and thrill that you all have when you know you can see all of the nuances and understand my methods. You know which ones I chose to use for each application and why I chose them. That's the secret! That is why my workshops and DVDs are so much in demand. With the understanding I share with you - you can adapt everything I have taught you so you can paint anything at all! So thank you for sharing your experience on my workshops and with my DVDs. This helps others feel confident to seek out my workshops and DVDs and then they can also fly. Sadly many artists miss out on my workshops as the demand is very high. I won't be teaching in the US for at least two years - due to family and exhibition committments. I will however be teaching two workshops in New Zealand in 2010 and will be leading an African painting, photography, wine appreciation and sight seeing tour in Oct 2010. Some excellent news: I have just released my much awaited DVD: Susan Harrison-Tustain's Painting My Way. Over 5 hours of indepth tuition on everything I know about watercolor. Click here for more details: http://www.harrison-tustain.com/pennyfarthing/index.htmlThank you again for your lovely words and sharing your enthusiasm with others. It has been such a pleasure teaching you all! Susan

I have never known a teacher more patient, thoughtful and kind. Susan goes over everything as completely as possible and spends a valuable amount of time with each student. She is totally a hands on teacher and knows what she is teaching as well as any artist out there. Every question is answered thoroughly. PS, She is allot of fun too with a great sense of humor!

Hi everyone, I, too, attended the Oregon seminar in July 2009. I can't find the words to say how much I enjoyed it and learned. I am a new artist and the only teaching was one class in Jr. College. There I was introduced to Susan's DVD One-on-One Watercolor Workshops by a fellow student. That was when I fell in love with watercolor. Then to attend one of Susan's workshops in person was incredible and a dream come true. To watch her paint and to actually see the amount of water she uses and the small amount of paint for each layer was an eyeopener. I left her workshop feeling like a watercolor ARTIST not just someone who dabbled in paint. I have just finished a painting (plus the one we did for the workshop) and I am truly amazed at the difference in these versus the ones previously. It still takes a long time for me to complete a painting but I am enjoying every step of the way thanks to Susan. I can't wait for my next chance to attend another workshop of Susan's and I would like to encourage all of you to try and attend one. It was life changing for me and I am sure it will be for any of you no matter how great of an artist you are. Susan, thank you so much. Mati

Hello Mati! It is such a joy for me to read your words and to hear how much my workshop has influenced your watercolor journey. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feelings about my workshops. It really was such a joy to have you aboard. We had fun didn't we! I am always so fortunate that my art brings me into contact with so many people who are passionate about their work. I love to see the look of amazement on my student's faces when they realize the huge potential they have. It is my pleasure to extend you all. I love to see you all fly! I receive emails every day from artists who would like to attend my workshops - I am working on finding a space in my schedule but it wont be until the end of 2010. I wish I had a clone and could find more time to teach. For those wanting workshops but not able to wait until I can find time to fit one or two in - do take a look at my new DVD. I have specifically created this as I knew I would not be teaching again until the end of 2010. http://www.harrison-tustain.com/pennyfarthing/index.htmlThank you again Mati - for your lovely words. It really was such a pleasure to have you aboard my Oregon workshop. Your new painting is simple gorgeous. You should paste it in this forum - and in the finished painting forum too. I know everyone would love to see it! Happy painting everyone. Remember to believe in yourself and your work! What does telling yourself that you can't do it - do to your chances of success? Telling yourself you can do it means you are more than half way there! Think of the possibilities!!!!!!! Susan

Hi All, If you can't attend a workshop this is the next best thing. I can highly recommend Susan's new DVD( Painting Watercolor My Way) it is a recipe for success in your future works, , it shows just how to achieve it .I have many DVD's nothing beats this one in my view, by way of content excellent demonstration, from the yellow under painting that glows through under each wash, beautiful blends of hues, painting a white object that is full of color yet still read white , velvety look on the rose petals the undulation on the leaves you can almost feel, describing with color different planes on the subject to bring forward or push back, molding form by use of warm and cool hues , you can see how to work on the background or any area in sections without any demarcation lines this is invaluable. The priming method understanding how important the degree of wetness on the paper is, this is a very empowering key to this method, the best part that you can view or listen to the DVD over and over and discover many more layers of teaching that may have been missed . It is like having a one on one workshop with Susan . Marylka

Hi Marylka I am so pleased you are enjoying my latest DVD. It is my best yet and covers so much information in the 5+ hours.
It is good of you to write a review. Thank you. I know we all would love to see what we are getting before we buy - but in the case of a DVD we have to wing it dont we. So your recommendation will give everyone a good idea of the quality of production as well as content.
I am sure that if anyone felt they were not getting brilliant value with my DVDs - I would happily refund the cost of the DVD anyway!
Thanks again Marylka

You are welcome Susan it is easy to write about something which I believe it to be true, I have learnt much from the DVD . I have only mentioned a few of the benefits everyone should own one to get it in full, as the content would take quite a number of workshops. I love them all, this is your best. Marylka

Hi everyone, I thought as there are a couple of new workshops coming up that i could let others know how i felt about the workshop with Susan. I unfortunately could not get to the get together the night before. I went to the NZ march workshop and was the one at the back in the right hand corner. Susan's approach was very warm and very thorough. After doing even one day of the workshop I found that the method became clearer and i had a better understanding of how to do shadow and form. I really enjoyed the time and was very happy with the results. I can't go this year but I am very happy with the new DVD and will watch it as much as i can. I also want to thank Susan for being so generous with her teaching and her time. regards Margaret

Hi! Just wanted everyone to know that Susan's latest DVD is excellent. There are so many little tips and ideas that you have to play it over and over to absorb them.
I broke my DVD player from just playing her dvds over and over. I had to buy an industrial DVD player so that it won't break down with constant use.

Hi Diane, I worry that i will wear the disks out, I also find that viewing them over is I pick up information that did not register the first time, as our skills progress we can understand other sections on tips & ideas technique even how to use the brush to monitor the pigment and water on the cloth I can honestly say that is a integral part of the technique . Dear Susan, It is an impossible dream that I would ever be able to attend one of your workshops. However, the forum challenges have changed my approach to watercolor. I watch your dvd's over and over. I find something new every time I view them. My mother who is 92 eagerly watched each brushstroke on the Imogen challenge and currently, the rose challenge. She left the other day to return to my brother's home. Before she left she said, laughingly, yet seriously, "I hope you know that you have entered never, never land. You will never be able to go back to your old way of painting." She is right. Since I am basically self-taught, I had grown weary of always climbing, yet never able to clear the summit. Now, even I can see the difference in my work. So although I will never get to see you in person, I am still appreciative of what you have personally offered each of us.
Yours, Glenda

Hello Glenda, Well said, and I just must add, how fortunate that you are, to have your Mum still with you, she sounds a very remarkable woman. Happy painting, regards, Patricia.

Hello Glenda Thank you for your kind words. It is always a joy to hear my DVDs are inspiring. I particularly love to hear you are finding new things you missed in previous viewings. I like to do that with my paintings too - the more you look into them - the more you see. Take a look at my painting 'Windfall'. After veiwing for a while you will notice the reflection of trees behind you - the viewer. This brings you into the painting.
It is like that with my DVDs - there are layers of information. Once you have grasped one concept - voila! A new door opens and you see so much more. You also see feel things fall into place as you have those 'Aha' moments. I know - because I have been where you are. I know what I wanted to find out and what I wanted to learn and feel.
So you see it really is a joy for me to hear you are finding such inspiration in my DVDs.
I loved reading about your Mum and her very insightful comment - how wise she is! What a treasure it must be to have her inspiration too! Please give her a hug from me the next time you see her!
I have just spent two weeks with my step Mum while she had some radiation treatment on some minor skin cancer. All went so well and she is fine. But what a special time we had!!! Two weeks exploring our capital city. She is 82 and such a character. It is winter here so on some chilly wet days we would simply catch a bus and enjoy the ride until we reached the end of the line and had to get off! Movies, coffees, long walks, kicking our heals up and I even got time to do some painting (to ward off the withdrawal symptoms!) So you see - I know how special Mum's are too.
Thank you for taking the time to write Glenda. Keep up the beautiful work.
Susan
