Hi Everyone

Well I have some brilliant news. Our new SusanArt Challenge has a an exciting new focus.

To date we have worked on complete paintings(apart from my early leaf study). This new challenge is going to be focused on learning specific details in a Masterclass.

These will be up-close and in-depth studies of subjects that often see artists coming to grief.

These Masterclass study focused challenges will be introduced every so often between full painting study challenges. I want this forum to not only give you the tools to paint a full painting - but I want you all to learn how to analyse and improve your skills on very important areas in painting too. What more important area is there on a face than the eyes!

This is going to be a learning Masterclass on painting eyes.

You will see how the aging process changes the character of eyes. We will have eyes from a baby, child, teenager, adult and the characterful eyes of a elderly person.

You will see eyes from many different angles.

Some may have sharp reflections and some dulled with emotion, some with a tear and some with a warm and welcoming smile. Who knows - the options are endless. But what I want you to learn is how you can connect with the viewer of your work through skillfully painted eyes.

You will be amazed at what you will learn.

I have been able to twist Bruce Johnson's arm to return to teach you these invaluable and quick lessons to help you upskill and learn all there is to know about creating eyes that look like windows to our subject's soul.

The old saying that 'if you get the eyes right - the rest of painting will fall into place' is so true. If we can engage the viewers of our work with eyes that captivate or describe a character of an emotion - our paintings are already a success.

So in the next week or two Bruce will begin his introduction and the first of the eye studies.

Have fun - and remember - this is about learning and challenging yourself to improve even further.

Thank you Bruce - what fun this is going to be!

This is excellent. Wink Maybe someday we can work master studies to include lips, fingers, finger nails, Hands, toes, feet, all the hardest parts that show in the human body.
It helps to study anatomy.

It sure does help to study anatomy,  no problem when you are watching the soccer, lots of hunks to study, and very enjoyable too.
Wish all "studding" was as easy on the eyes. Christiano Ronaldo anyone? I am really not a bad girl, just love to have fun.

You make my day with your humor! Cheesy  We artist who love painting the human form LOVES the look of the human form. It is a thing of beauty. It is an art. My mother always said while she lived, that the human body is an art. Nothing to be ashamed of. Its Gods masterpiece.

Hi All

Thanks for the intro Susan.. and you didn't have to twist my arm too much.. I enjoy working with all the folks on here..
The first of the Masterclass studies will be eyes.. young, old,  different expressions and from different angles..
I'm currently finishing up a commission of a little baby and hope to have that finished in the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime I need some good pics of eyes, or faces that I can take a ref from. Particulary older and more mature faces.. I like wrinkles  Smiley
Can you all take alook through your ref images and send me any pics you have.. the more refs you send me the wider the range the study can be..
Send to bowpro@live.com.au

Back soon  Smiley
