Hello Everyone

Thank you all for your support and feedback. I wanted you all to know my latest DVD has also become a best seller! That is very humbling!

I receive emails every day from artists who would like to attend my workshops - I am working on finding a space in my crazy busy year for two workshops - but they won't be until the end of 2010 (New Zealand). When announced in my newsletter - there will be an avalanche of mail - and the places will be taken very quickly, so if you are an international artist this is a little 'heads up' that I am thinking about October, so keep it in mind for your travel plans to New Zealand.

I wish I had a clone and could find more time to teach. For those wanting workshops but not able to wait until I can find time to fit one or two in - do take a look at my new DVD. I have specifically created this as I knew I would not be teaching again until the end of 2010.

This DVD will introduce all of my new methods and techniques and extend on the previous DVDs giving inspiriation and also a great insight into my thought processes while I am painting.

Sharing my indepth thoughts and my deliberation and reasoning as I paint has been quite a breakthrough for my teaching as well as helping my artists to learn on a different level. The feedback on this as well as the in-depth information - including the amount of focus on mixing color - has been very fulfilling for me as a tutor.

This is a most important ingredient when learning. Understanding why and how my methods work and how I use watercolor to create a naturalistic realism that captures an emotion and gives a true sense of presence.  Watercolour is such an amazing medium that can allow you to create any surface, any lighting, any mood or atmoshpere you wish. Once you understand the potential - you come to know the world is there for you to paint.

The DVD has over 5 hours of tuition on two discs. You will find a huge amount of information and insight each and every time you view this DVD - there is so much in there.

I receive emails every day asking about my workshop schedule which I hope to announce in February. My new DVD is the very next best thing to a workshop. If you are planning to attend my next workshop - the DVD will give you invaluable experience and information to build on.

Remember to believe in yourself and your work! Think about how telling yourself that you can't do it - can impact on your chances of success.  Telling yourself you can do it means you are more than half way there! Just think of the possibilities!!!!!!!

Happy painting everyone.

Hi Everyone

I am often asked about my DVDs and what they contain. I have just written the following text at the end of SusanArt Challenge 3 - and I thought it could be of interest to those contemplating the DVDs. I know it is difficult to make a decision to purchase such things as it is only when you view them, that you know whether they were worth the cost. I can assure you these DVDs are well worth the small cost!

I wish I could let you all see the huge amount of feedback - almost an avalanche of mail that awaits me each morning. Much of this is from artists who have recently purchased my DVDs and who are often overwhelmed with excitment at the possibilities they now have before them. That is what excited me when I discovered all of the breakthroughs I teach in my DVDs. I wanted to share this information and a DVD is the best way to do that.

My philosophy is to teach  how to create a naturalistic realism using the methods and techniques I have developed and discovered over my many years of being an artist. These are the things that have lifted my art to a professional level. But the secret is that I also teach 'why' they work and how they work. This understanding is invaluable. With that knowledge you are able to extend your painting subjects to anything at all because you will know what color mixes to use, you will know how to apply your paint to get any effect you are after and you will know how to create a painting that has a true presence.

Then once you all have that in your repetoire, you can choose a combination of all the wonderful things you feel express what you want in your work and create your own unique style.

Here is the text I have written at the base of SusanArt Challenge 3 - that I thought those of you interested in my DVDs my like to have highlighted:

There are so many applications and extensions of my methods, techniques and colour theory etc. It would take forever to show you everything here in this forum. The old saying about viewing something is worth a thousand words. I think it is worth a zillion words. It is very hard to explain in words how much water to use, how I use my brush to dab an allow the water to disperse the colour, how I soften some edges and flare others. A DVD is the ideal way to show you these things and so much more - so you can see for yourself.

You can see it all in my DVDs.

Painting Watercolor My Way is my latest DVD which has all of the latest information, new breakthroughs and all of my methods and techniques. It has over 5 hours of tuition! The editing took months! But I am so very happy with it. There are many bonuses including garden breaks which allow you a few minutes between sections to rest in a beautiful and inspiring place as the garden breaks show you cameos of little areas in my garden. Roses are a major  feature, but you will also see fruit blossom and so many other wonder inspiring plants and scenes. You can freeze frame them, photograph or print these areas and create paintings from them. They really are gorgeous.

We sell thousands of my DVDs and send them all over the world. So selling a few more is not really the point of this writing. The feedback has been very humbling but also very fulfilling as I read how much they have helped artists realize there is a whole new world of possibilities with my methods, techniques and limited palette. So I know those of you who haven't seen my DVDs would benefit greatly from them.

Hello Marylka
Thank you so much! That was very good of you to think to do that. I am very pleased you are loving this DVD so much. The feedback has been phenominal! I think it answers all of the questions artists want to know by the sound of the messages I receive each morning. It never ceases to amaze me how far and wide my DVDs go. I often have orders from places I have never heard of - sometimes countries I havent heard of! Out comes my atlas and I enjoy finding them and learning more about our world while I am there!

I am sure each time you look at this DVD, you will hear and see so much more. It has layers of information so it suitable for all levels of artist skills.

This is starting to sound like an advertisment. It is 1.30am - so I will hit the send button and head for bed!

Thank you again Marylka!

Hello 'RuffledCat'

Welcome to the forum!

I am so pleased you are enjoying my DVDs. It was simple to create the right teaching because I was in the same position as everyone has been. I knew what I needed to know. I know what breakthroughs made the fantastic leaps for me and as I teach workshops and receive messages every day - I know which of the traps for young players we have all fallen into and why. So I focus on these things and also extend you all so much further. I like to think my DVDs have layers of information. Each time you watch them - you will find, understand and absorb an ever widening knowledge of painting in watercolor as well as other mediums. Much on my DVDs can be translated to oil, acrylic, pastel etc. I like to think of my dvds as initially giving solid blocks of learning. Each layer building and unfolding as your awareness grows and blossoms. I love to see you all flying so high!
