Information about Lithographs and Fine Art Giclée Reproduction
Giclees
Some of my giclees are available on watercolor paper and some are on canvas.
All of my giclees are genuine TruGiclee certified reproductions and have a guarantee for a minimum of 100 years without any perceivable difference when hung in normal ‘office conditions’. That simply means it is advised that art of any kind is not hung in direct sunlight.
Giclees created on watercolor paper look as if they are original watercolor paintings and would generally be framed with a matt board surround and also framed behind glass.
My TruGiclee certified reproductions on watercolor paper have a UV protectant coating which ensures longevity as described in the guarantee mentioned above.

Each of my prints has a white border. This white border allows you to frame your print without touching the image.

You can use plain glass or conservation glass. Either of these two are good products. Plain glass does not have any UV protection so I advise the use of Conservation glass. Non-reflect glass is not a good product to use as it blurs all images slightly.
On my original work I often use Museum glass which is incredible for two reasons – it makes the images looks sharp and crisp as well as giving little reflection. But the downside is that it is hugely expensive.
TruGiclee certified reproductions that are created on canvas look as if they are original paintings on canvas. These giclees do not need to be behind glass as they have a UV protectant varnish on the surface. It is advised that giclees on canvas are stretched on stretcher bars just as you would see an original oil painting would be stretched on stretcher bars.
My TruGiclee certified reproductions on canvas have a UV protectant varnish which ensures longevity as described in the guarantee mentioned above.

Lithographs
Off-set lithographs need to be framed behind glass. You can use plain glass or conservation glass. Non-reflect glass is not a good product to use as it blurs all images slightly.
On my original work I often use Museum glass which is incredible for two reasons: it makes the images look sharp and crisp as well as giving very little reflection. Of course it is museum grade so I understand there is little chance of any fading with Museum glass. But the downside is that it is hugely expensive.

My lithographs are made from A1 quality paper and the best lightfast dyes that are available at the time of printing.
But - as with all art - it is suggested that art should not be hung in direct sunlight.
Having said that – I am often asked about the longevity of my lithographs: I tell the story that I personally have two of my lithographs hanging in my own bedroom - an extremely sunny room with a great deal of reflected light bouncing around. These lithographs have been in this room for 12 years and I am thrilled to say there is no perceivable difference between those lithographs and the ones that are in my draw ready to be sold. Our New Zealand sunshine is very harsh and I understand we have had a hole in our ozone layer for a few years now. So the UV in our sunlight must be very high.
Investing in totally acid-free A1 paper and lightfast dyes means my lithographs are of the highest standard of off-set lithograph available at the time of printing.
