Often a portrait of a person despite their absence from the scene - my still life paintings invite the viewer to ‘know’ the owner of these objects and feel their presence. Antiquarian books with cracked leather binding, a pair of glasses laying beside a thought- provoking letter, a bead of tiny bubbles describing a fine champagne, an antique silver fob watch all speak of time and eternity. All of these things and so many more tempt us to venture deep into my still life paintings so you can feel the presence, the refinement or even the time worn, earthy rawness of a scene I wish to portray.
