Here is some more information regarding the different types of Giclees available:
Regular
This is a regular print run. There is not difference between the prints no matter what the number or order they are printed in. In the past and when old methods for printing were used - the earlier the number the better the dye or ink impression. The new methods of printing mean this is no longer true. All giclee prints in a 'regular' print run are identical.
Artist's Proof
An artist is allowed a percentage of proofs in addition to the number in a regular print run. In my case, the prints are identical to the regular prints but their numbering is different. For example a regular print run may have 350 prints. So each of those prints are numbered from 1/350 to 350/350.
You would generally find up to 25 Artist's proofs in a regular print run.
They would be numbered like this: 1/25 A/P up to 25/25 A/P
Remarque (Hand Embellished)
This is a very special print. It has been hand embellished (additional painting strokes) by the artist on top of the giclee. This will enhance a giclee on canvas as the stokes are visible. In the case of a giclee on canvas - a hand embellished giclee will look like a painting.
My remarques or hand embellished giclees on watercolor paper have a very special addition. You will find a small painting in the white margin surrounding the giclee. In effect it is creating an original of the giclee itself as I paint a genuine original painting within this border. For instance All Aboard may have a little teddy bear in the margin. The beach scenes may have a shell or a seagull. The little boy by the fountain in Venice may have a gondola in the margin. These little original miniatures take a long time to create - each enhancing the giclee and making it very special.
